ABOUT THE PROGRAM:

Le Frigo Vert is an anti-capitalist alternative health and community space. Frigo Vert started as a Health food store, specializing in organic health food. In 2018 they moved to their current location 1440 Rue Mackay. Today Frigo Vert offers services to the community that range from herbal medicine consultations, free workshops and education.

Frigo aims to challenge health food culture by rejecting trends and viewing health more holistically, as well as supporting those who don’t normally have enough money to access certain products or health-related services.

KEY CHALLENGES: Securing long-term affordable space downtown

KEY SUCCESSES:

  • Funded as a student fee-levy group
  • Popular location to study, socialize and have counterculture events
